It continues to be such an honour and privilege to have been StyleCircle’s Editor in Chief for the 21/22 and 23/24 seasons. StyleCircle is a student-led, critical fashion publication that strives to inspire and contribute to critical dialogue about the fashion industry. We work to amplify the perspectives of QTBIPOC students and create engaging content for our audience. Our annual publication, The Book by StyleCircle, is a professional-grade print magazine that features exclusive editorial content curated by students, for students.
In May of 2022, we published and launched our seventh publication titled “The Book 07: Performance.” Issue 07 of The Book by StyleCircle aims to explore the ways in which fashion intersects with performance as a means of cultural production, self-expression, and revolutionary liberation.
In March of 2023, we published and launched our eighth publication titled “The Book 08: Give Them Their Flowers.“ We all have someone who motivated us to reach for the stars and dream bigger. Whether they are family, friends, ourselves, or someone we can only dream of meeting, these people played fundamental roles in empowering us to be where and who we are today. The Book 08: Give Them Their Flowers aims to thank these individuals. We aim to honour those who set precedents for us by breaking through systemic barriers of access, racism, homophobia, transphobia, and oppression; and to recognize the work of emerging creatives who are also paving a way for new talent to thrive. We aim to celebrate the ways in which our various cultures are the cornerstone of the fashion industry while also honoring the beauty of our individual self-expression.
As Editor-in-Chief, I coordinated a team of over 80 student writers, designers, artists, event managers, and financial coordinators. This resulted in a smooth and successful year for both the digital and print aspects of the publication. I also supported with grant writing, art direction, book pagination and layout, event management, student professional développement, and the successful securing of funding for both The Book 07 and The Book 08’s production, printing, and for our launch event. I also led the editorial team and supported our writers in conceptualizing, writing, editing, and publishing their work.
I would like to thank StyleCircle’s incredible team for making my two years as amazing as they were!

How do we perform in society? How do we show up? Which parts of our identities do we radically embrace and which parts of ourselves do we hide? The Book 07 aims to explore the ways in which fashion intersects with performance as a means of cultural production, self-expression, and revolutionary liberation. Through editorial and visual concepts that explore artistic performance, activism, and the performance of self, this issue aims to leave a meaningful contribution to these areas of discourse. I hope that the experiences shared throughout this issue resonate with you and encourage you to lean into self-reflection, compassion, collective care, and uninhibited expression.
I would like to send my most heartfelt thank you out to the entire StyleCircle Team. You are all so incredibly talented and this issue would not have been possible without you. Thank you to everyone who contributed their ideas, time, writing, artwork, skills, and creativity to this edition. Thank you executive team for all the dedication you’ve shown this year.
