The Mississauga Arts Council and Peel CAS commissioned Imani Dominique and Shellene Wright to create murals for 3 classrooms within their new community center. Over the course of seven months, Imani and Shellene co-designed twelve wrap-around murals with the goal of inspiring the youth to believe that they can become anything they want to be. Imani designed and installed six of these murals. Since its installation, the murals have transformed the classrooms into bright, colorful, and excitement-driven spaces.
Most importantly, youth using the space have commented on how the artwork makes them feel represented and seen.
